When you actually need an EOR
Most offshore hires at small companies start as direct independent contractors — simple and legal when the relationship is genuinely contractor-shaped. An EOR (typically $300–$600/mo per head, listed pricing across providers) becomes the sensible route when you want full-time employment protections, or the country's labour law is employee-protective: our country notes flag Colombia, South Africa and Mexico as the usual EOR candidates, while the Philippines' norms (13th-month pay, ~18 public holidays) are commonly honoured voluntarily by direct employers.
