Apply to the roster — about 30–45 minutes — pause-safe

How this actually works

  1. You apply once

A scenario question and a real work sample — not a résumé. Twenty minutes of genuine effort, and it's what companies end up reading.

  2. We score it within minutes

Every application is read and scored against what the role really needs. You get an answer the same day, either way — no silence, ever.

  3. Strong applicants interview

Three deeper questions, written specifically for you from your own answers. Fifteen minutes, no timer, and your work saves as you type.

  4. Finalists get presented — and paid

We put your answers and work sample in front of the hiring company, and we pay you for the sample work. Then you talk to them directly and agree your own terms.

The roles we screen for

Apply to whichever fits you — or use the general application and we'll match you. These are the role types we screen for, not a live openings board: searches open and close constantly, and the roster is how you get considered for every one of them. Any search open right now is on the open roles page.

What we look for, said plainly

Specifics beat adjectives, every time. "I'm hardworking and a fast learner" scores badly here; "I cut our first-response time from six hours to under two by rebuilding the macro set, then kept it there for eight months" scores well. Name the tools, the numbers, and the decisions you actually made. Treat the work sample as the real deliverable — it carries more weight than everything else combined.

Common questions

Does it cost anything to apply?

No — never, not at any stage. No fees, no deposits, no training costs, no salary deductions, no cut of your pay. Finalists are paid by us for the sample work we ask for. If anyone claiming to be from Rolemote ever asks you for money, it's a scam and we want to know about it.

How long does it take to hear back?

Your application is scored within about ten minutes of submitting it, and you'll get an email either way — usually the same day. If you clear the first screen, that email contains a short second interview written specifically for you. We reply to everyone; being left in silence is the thing we built this to stop.

Who actually employs me?

The company does, directly. We introduce you and step out — we never sit between you and your pay, never take a percentage of your salary, and never become your employer. You agree your terms with them.

What if there's no role open for what I do?

That's exactly what the general application is for. Apply once, we screen your work, and you sit in the roster — when a company hires us to fill something that fits you, you're already vetted and among the first we contact.

Why is the application so long?

Because we don't screen on résumés. A scenario answer and a real work sample tell us far more about whether you're good than a list of previous job titles — and they let people without a polished CV compete on the actual work. It's about 30–45 minutes and you can pause partway — your draft is saved — and it's the reason our finalists get taken seriously.
