Operations Manager — [Company]

[Company] is a [one-line description]. You'll own our processes: documenting how things run, coordinating the vendors and suppliers they depend on, and making sure what should have happened actually did. As we adopt more AI tooling, you'll increasingly be the person who runs the tools and checks their work.

What you'll do

  • Write and maintain the standard operating procedures for our recurring processes — numbered steps, owners, and the check that catches the common failure.
  • Own vendor and supplier relationships day to day: orders, deadlines, chasing, escalation.
  • Oversee order flow and fulfilment, and be the first to know when something slips.
  • Build the weekly reporting pack — the handful of numbers that say whether the machine is healthy.
  • Run incident follow-ups: when something breaks, fix the instance, then change the rule so it can't repeat the same way.
  • Operate and supervise the AI tools in our stack — drafting, monitoring, data pulls — and verify their output before it's relied on.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in operations, project management or a comparable own-the-machine role.
  • You have written real SOPs and can show one.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills — you can build the report, not just read it.
  • Vendor coordination experience, including the uncomfortable conversations.
  • Clear written communication — most of this job happens in writing.

Nice to have

  • E-commerce, logistics or agency background.
  • Automation tooling (Zapier, Make, or scripts) that removed a manual step somewhere.
  • Dashboarding experience (Sheets, Looker Studio or similar).

The part the description can't do

A good posting attracts the right pile; it doesn't sort it. For operations managers, we sort with graded work: A supplier-miss scenario where the customer found out first, plus a real standard operating procedure for a weekly process. That's the screening we run on every search — here's a real sample shortlist showing what the evidence looks like, and here are the interview questions we'd ask if you're running it yourself.

Or skip the pile entirely

Post this yourself and you'll do the screening. Hand us the brief and you'll read three graded finalists instead — the search runs free, and the flat $1,995 is due only when you want introductions.

Common questions

Can I use this operations manager job description as-is?

Copy it, then replace every bracketed placeholder — the company line, tools, hours and band. The bracketed parts are the parts that do the filtering; a posting left generic attracts generic applicants, which is the problem a good description exists to prevent.

Should I include the salary range?

Yes. Posting the band filters out mismatched expectations before they cost anyone an interview, and candidates in this market read a missing band as a lowball coming. Our sourced country ranges are linked below so you can anchor honestly.

What actually screens candidates — the description or the interview?

Neither, mostly. The strongest predictor is graded work: a role-specific scenario plus a real work sample, read before you ever speak to anyone. The application question at the end of this template starts that; our screening runs the full version for you.

Is this template free to use commercially?

Yes — copy it, edit it, post it anywhere. No attribution, no email wall. We publish the market's working documents for free whether or not you ever hire through us.
